The following manuscripts have τὸν Ἰωακιμ Ἰωακιμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν : M, U, Θ, Σ, 33, 209, 258, 478, 661, 954, 1354, 1604, Syriac Philoxenian.

Stephanus puts * τὸν Ἰακείμ Ἰακεὶμ δε ἐγέννησε in the margin. Thus making up the number 14 in each period uniformly; which otherwise, according to the present reading, is supplied by making David to end the first period, and begin the second likewise.

The omission of Ἰωακιμ is to be explained from a confusion between the two similar names, which at the same time, contributed to the omission of one of them. This clearly appears from the circumstance that, indeed, several brothers of Ἰωακιμ are mentioned (1Ch 3:15), but not of Ιεχονιας.

(b) Ἰεχονίαν καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ – τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ refers to the brothers of Jeconiah just as the same words (καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ) occur in Matt 1:2 refers to the brothers of Judah. But unlike 1Ch 2:2, where the brothers of Judah are mentioned, 1Ch 3:16 does not mention any of Jeconiah’s brothers. However, 1Ch 3:15 named four sons of Josiah. They are “Johanan the firstborn, and the second was Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum.” So is Ἰεχονίαν a corruption of Ἰωακιμ or is Ἰωσίας a corruption of Ἰωακιμ? Is Ἰωσίας δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωακιμ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ Ἰωακιμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεχονίαν ἐπὶ τῆς μετοικεσίας Bαβυλῶνος the original text of Matt 1:11?

Verse 11 is probably originally ran: The present form of the text may be an old error of the copyists occasioned by the similarity of the two names. The early copyist probably confused  Ἰωσίας with Ἰωακιμ.

Please note that Jeconiah (יכניה) is also called Jehoiachin (יהויכין) in 2Ki 24:8. LXX made no distinction between Jehoiachin (יהויכין) and his father Jehoiakim (יהויקים) in 2Ki 24:6.

Matthew wrote his Gospel in Hebrew. The Greek translator of Matthew probably followed LXX in translating יהויקים as Ιωακιμ. Then, the early copyist who knew that Ιωακιμ was another name for Jeconiah may have thought that Ἰωακιμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεχονίαν (Joachim begot Jeconiah, who is also called Joachim in the LXX) was a mistake. This may probably be the reason why no traces of it are to be found in the majority of the Greek MSS. If this be admitted together with the other kings omitted in the genealogy, then Matt 1:17 must have been an early scribal gloss (marginal note) mistaken by later copyists as written by Matthew.

Jehoiachin was a son and successor of Jehoiakim. He reigned for one hundred days (2Ch 36:9). He is also called Jeconiah (Jer 24:1; Jer 27:20, etc.), and Coniah (Jer 22:24; Jer 37:1). He was succeeded by his uncle, Mattaniah (Zedekiah). He was the last direct heir to the Jewish crown. He was carried captive to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, along with the flower of the nobility, all the leading men in Jerusalem, and a great body of the general population, some thirteen thousand in all (2Ki 24:12-16; Jer 52:28). After an imprisonment of thirty-seven years (Jer 52:31, Jer 52:33), he was liberated by Evil-merodach, and permitted to occupy a place in the king’s household and sit at his table, receiving “every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life” (Jer 52:32-34).

See 2 Ch 36:8-10:-

That our genealogy, however, followed statement in 2 Ch 36:10, is not to be assumed on account of the plural τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς, which rather points to 1 Ch 3:15 and the interchange with Jehoiakim.
