A Textual Commentary On Matthew 8:7
(a) Codex Vaticanus, one cursive and some Latin copies omit καὶ. According to Bloomfield, καὶ was omitted for the sake of removing something like tautology between καὶ λέγων and καὶ λέγει; and λέγει without καὶ, though common in Gospel of John, rarely occurs in Gospel of Matthew.
